Mustang Alumni Association Creates Project with Centre for Olympic Learning, Honouring Past Mustang Olympians
The Western Mustangs Alumni Association is partnering with Western's International Centre for Olympic Studies (ICOS) to honour Western alumni that participated in the Olympic Games.
The project, "Western at the Olympics" will include a wall to enshrine the names of over 130 Mustang alumni that represented Canada at past Olympics. Also included will be the creation of video presentations as well as lecture series focusing on the stories of the alumni.
The exhibit will be located in Somerville House, and the goal is for the exhibit to be revealed during Homecoming Weekend in the fall of 2021.
The Western International Centre for Olympic Learning was established in 1989. The ICOS focus is, "To encourage, generate, and disseminate scholarship on a broad range of social and cultural themes related to the Olympic Games."
