University Drive Bridge Closed for Inspection

University Drive bridge will be closed to all motorized traffic on Tuesday for an inspection.

With winter approaching, the bridge is expected to withstand structural changes due to the fluctuating temperatures. In October 2019, the bridge was closed to vehicle traffic for nearly five months after an inspection discovered deterioration in the bearings. Today’s closure is a follow-up to last year’s repair works to see if the repairs are still holding up.

Pedestrians are to use one sidewalk only. Cyclists will have to dismount and walk their bikes across the bridge. London Transit Commission route number 6,13, 27, and 106 will all be detoured around the bridge. Regular service will resume the following day on Wednesday, November 4.
