COVID-19 UPDATE: 
- Ontario reported another 538 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, as the province's backlog of tests waiting to be completed grew to a record high of more than 82,000. 

CAMPUS:
- The 71st homecoming for Western University will look very different than the usual but the spirit and energy behind it will be the same as we have seen over the years. 

- Award-winning filmmaker David Mewa returned to campus as the creative mind charged with bringing the Alumni Relations team’s vision to life in a two-hour, online video showpiece that will cap this year’s virtual Homecoming on October 17.

LOCAL AND NATIONAL: 
- An additional nine people in the London area tested positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday as new provincial modeling data showed infection rates across Ontario could spike. 

- Air Canada has ordered 25,000 testing kits that can detect COVID-19 in someone in as little as five minutes, a key hurdle for an industry that's desperately trying to make it safe and possible for travelers to fly again.

SPORTS: 
- Leylah Annie Fernandez is heading to the third round, while fellow Canadian Denis Shapovalov has been eliminated at the French Open.

INTERNATIONAL: 
- Humans have to slow down greenhouse gas emissions if they want to curb Greenland's ice loss, a new study has found. 

- The research, published on Wednesday in the journal Nature, says the rate of the ice loss in Greenland this century will likely outpace that of any other century over the past 12,000 years.
