Hey everyone, my name is Elijah Rae and I’m the new Festivals & Special Events Coordinator at Radio Western! I’m really excited to get out and see all the Radio Western listeners at the wonderful festivals that London has coming up; but before we get into that, I feel like you should all get to know me a little bit more, that way we’re all caught up when you see me in person.

First things first, my name is Elijah but feel free to call me Eli, DJ Erae, or, as the fine people here at Radio Western like to call me, EliJa Rule. Another thing you might need to know about me going forward is that I absolutely adore bad puns, so I’d like to give a round of applause to those of you who were able to pick up the three Ja Rule puns I’ve already slipped in this post. I’m just wrapping up my time here at Western as an MIT student, and these have been some of the best years of my life. Whether it be the mesmerizing architecture (yes, I’m still on the Ja Rule puns) or the unusually angry geese that constantly try to attack me, I love the atmosphere of Western’s campus, so I find myself to be incredibly lucky to still be apart of this environment.

Working with Radio Western is a dream come true for me, as my life has always revolved around my love for music and now my job revolves around it as well. Although I listen to a wide variety of music, my preferred genres are rap, electronic, and rock. Some of my favorite artists are Childish Gambino, Sophie, Kendrick Lamar, and System of a Down. I’ve always believed that radio is a great platform that introduces listeners to new music that they otherwise would not have bothered listening to before. I’ve found some of my favourite music through the radio, which is why I am so proud to represent a station that takes pride in showcasing their diverse and eccentric playlists.

As the Festivals & Special Events Coordinator, I’ll be attending a good portion of the festivals that will be popping up all over London this summer. The festivals that London is hosting this summer are a great way to get out of the house and expose yourself to various cultures that you may not have been familiar with before. I, for one, will be posted up under the Radio Western tent for most of the festivals, and I strongly encourage anyone who’s reading this to stop by and say hi if you’re attending one of these festivals.
