Friday October 4, 2019 the Western Mustang Men’s Lacrosse Team played a great game against the McMaster Marauders. The Mustangs got ahead early in the game, scoring their first goal within the first five minutes of play. After finishing the first period, The Mustangs lead 2-1.   The game continued and the team showcased their talent. Leading goal scorers in the game were Cole Davis #22 and Cody Arsenault #29.

Head Coach, Jeremy Tallevi is proud of the boys and how they played in the game last night. He stated, “I think we’re fast. We’ve got very strong defense, we’ve got a deep team, we’ve got a lot of team speed…I thought we played pretty well, maybe we weren’t squeezing some of the passes on offense that we usually do, but I think in general we played a very good game tonight.”

Jack Moroney #15, had a different perspective on the game, “[Tonight’s game] was different, a little chippy. The other coach is our coach’s brother, so there was a bit of tension there. They wanted pieces of us for sure.” Cody Arsenault #29 added, “I came into it knowing that it wouldn’t be the best game, I was looking to put up some points for tonight.”.

Coach Jeremy Tallevi’s brother is coincidentally the head coach of the McMaster Marauders’ Men’s Lacrosse Team. Jack Moroney touched on this subject. “Coach wasn’t super impressed [at the half], I don’t know what’s going on between him and his brother, if they had a side bet on the game,  but being up only one goal after the first quarter wasn’t great, I don’t think that the spread was a big as we thought that it would be at the half”.

The boys are now leading 4-0 in their series and are excited to see what the season has in store for them. They will be playing their next game against the University of Toronto this Sunday, October 6, 2019.
