Stefan Nichol

The Ontario Summer Games opened with soccer taking center-stage. Both Girls and Boys round robin play began with U-15 teams from across the province competing at the North London Athletic Fields. Highlights from the day included a shutout victory earned by #1 Noemie Bouchard of the Aurora FC girls’ squad against an arguably better team from Whitby, a glancing header scored by Burlington Youth striker #99 Burhan Tariq which turned out to be the difference in the match, with the goal of the day being scored by Vaughan’s #37. She fought off a defender at the edge of the 18-yard box before firing an unstoppable shot into the far top corner of the net just under the bar.

Scores from the day were:

Boys Pool A

Ottawa South United 0 – 1 Burlington Youth

North Toronto 1 – 0 North Mississauga
